The NLV is well-designed.
And regularly mishandled.

The Non-Lucrative Visa is Spain's residency path for financially independent people who don't need to work here. Wrong apostilles. Wrong financial documentation for the wrong consulate. Police checks from the wrong jurisdiction. Proof of income that doesn't match what the application requires. We have seen all of it.

We have also moved to Spain ourselves — the tourist-visa years, the residency application, the NIE, the paperwork that never quite matches the checklist. Your Non-Lucrative Visa application is prepared with a vetted immigration law firm that does this every day; what we add is having lived through Spanish residency and knowing where the process actually bends.

This package takes you from eligibility assessment to NIE in hand. Legal work is handled by our vetted Spanish immigration law partner, whose fees are included in the price. You deal with us. One relationship, beginning to end.

Single applicant
The Arrival
€3,500

Full immigration concierge for one applicant. Eligibility assessment through NIE, empadronamiento, bank account, and 90 days of post-arrival support. Legal partner fees included.

Legal partner fee (€1,500 value) included.

Every step. Properly.

Before you apply
  • Eligibility consultation — 90 minutes, video. We assess your financial profile, income and pension structure, existing ties to Spain, and consulate jurisdiction. You leave this call knowing exactly where you stand, what you need, and what your realistic timeline looks like.
  • Application roadmap. A written document specific to your consulate, your situation, and your target arrival date. Not a template. Your roadmap.
  • Document requirements brief. Comprehensive, country-specific, with detailed notes on common failure points. What to request, from which authorities, apostilled correctly, translated correctly, formatted correctly.
  • Pre-submission document review. We check everything before it goes anywhere near a consulate. If something is wrong, it gets fixed before it becomes a rejection.
The legal work
  • Full NLV application management through our vetted Spanish immigration law partner. Not a referral — a coordinated engagement we manage on your behalf.
  • Legal representation fee included — €1,500 per applicant. This is the partner's fee for managing the formal application. It is inside the package price, not an addition to it.
  • Translations at cost, zero markup. Certified legal translations are passed through at exactly what the translator charges. We do not make margin on this.
On arrival in Spain
  • NIE coordination. Número de Identificación de Extranjero — the number that precedes everything. Bank account, property purchase, utility contracts, tax registration. Without it, nothing moves. We coordinate this properly.
  • Empadronamiento registration. Municipal registration at your Spanish address. Required for healthcare access, banking in some circumstances, and residency renewal. Often overlooked. Never by us.
  • Spanish bank account opening. CaixaBank, with direct introduction and process walkthrough. We know the steps, the documentation, and what gets flagged at the branch.
First 90 days
  • Private healthcare registration guidance — selecting and registering with a provider that serves English-speaking clients effectively
  • Utility account setup briefing — electricity, water, gas, internet. What you need, in what order.
  • Driving licence exchange overview — when it applies, which licences qualify, how to initiate
  • Hacienda orientation — what registration you'll need and when
  • 90-day direct access. Questions answered by us. Not a ticketing system.

The decision most people
make too late.

The Beckham Law election is one of the most significant financial decisions you will make in your first six months in Spain. The window is six months from the date you register as a Spanish tax resident. Miss it and the option is gone permanently.

Beckham Law
24%
Flat rate on Spanish-source income for six years — vs. progressive rates reaching 47% under standard residency

One decision. Six years.
Potentially six figures.

Under standard Spanish tax rules, residents pay progressive income tax on worldwide income. Under Beckham Law, new residents pay a flat 24% on Spanish-source income only. Foreign income — pensions, rental income from properties retained abroad, investment income held outside Spain — is generally excluded from Spanish taxation during the six-year period.

For a client with combined household income of €80,000 — pension, investment draw, rental income from a retained Canadian or US property — the difference between Beckham and standard residency taxation over six years can exceed €60,000. Often significantly more.

We coordinate the election through our tax law partner, who handles the Modelo 149 filing and advises on the income structuring questions that arise before and during the election period.

€2,500 per person
If you have passive income at any level that makes a 24% flat rate interesting, this conversation needs to happen before you submit your NLV application — not after you have registered as a tax resident.

Everything else
you might need.

What people
ask first.

Spain's residency visa for financially independent people — typically retirees, people drawing passive income, or early retirees with sufficient pension or investment income. You are not permitted to work in Spain under this visa, but you may receive pension income, investment income, and dividends from assets held abroad. It is the correct vehicle for the vast majority of North Americans retiring to Spain.
The Spanish consulate requires evidence of sufficient passive income to support yourself without working in Spain. The threshold is set by the Spanish government and reviewed periodically. As a general reference point, it has historically been approximately €27,000–€30,000 per year for a single applicant, with additional amounts per dependent — but this changes, and your specific consulate may have additional documentation requirements. We confirm the current figure and how to document your income correctly at the eligibility call.
No. The Non-Lucrative Visa is for people who do not need to work in Spain. You may receive income from sources abroad — pensions, investment accounts, rental income from retained properties. You may not take employment or active business income from Spanish sources. If you are planning to work remotely for a non-Spanish company, the Digital Nomad Visa is a more appropriate vehicle — we can advise on this at the eligibility call, though it falls outside our primary service area.
It is uncommon when the application is properly prepared. Refusals typically result from documentation errors, financial threshold presentation issues, or consulate-specific requirements that were not anticipated — the kinds of problems our pre-submission review is designed to catch before the application is filed. If a refusal does occur, we work with our legal partner to understand the grounds and advise on the correct response, whether that is an appeal, a reapplication, or an alternative approach. We do not walk away at the first obstacle.
Earlier than you think. The NLV process — from document gathering to consulate appointment to visa issuance — typically takes four to six months depending on your consulate and jurisdiction. If you have a target arrival date in mind, work backwards from it. The eligibility call is the right starting point and costs nothing. You do not need to be ready to proceed immediately to book one.
A gestor processes paperwork. We manage the outcome. The legal partner fee is included in our package — so the advisory and coordination layer costs a single applicant €2,000 above that. That covers eligibility assessment, full document brief, pre-submission review, NIE coordination, empadronamiento, bank account opening, and 90 days of post-arrival support from someone who has personally been through this process in Spain. If you want to save that €2,000 and manage everything else yourself, you can. Many people have tried.
